Step 2: Build
A 3D print shows the shape; a functional prototype shows whether it works. In the Build step, we make working prototypes in our own prototype manufacturing facility, then test and refine them until the design is ready for production.

We make functional prototypes in our own facility, by CNC machining or another method suited to the part, then test them, refine the design, and repeat as needed.

What Happens
- Choose the method: We select a suitable way to make a functional prototype of your part, such as CNC machining.
- Make the prototype: We produce a working prototype you can put to use.
- Test: You use it the way it will really be used, and we review what works and what doesn’t.
- Refine: We update the design and make another prototype if needed.
- Production-ready design: When the prototype meets your requirements, the design is ready to move toward production.
Our Prototype Shop
Prototypes are made in DCP’s own manufacturing facility, equipped with four CNC mills, two lathes, precision grinding, and production sawing, and operated by a CNC programmer and Class A Tool Room Machinist.
